Denial of the end
In Portugal, while Lisbon and Porto are promising cities with lots of opportunities, small towns and villages in the interior of the country are everyday emptier. With an atmosphere of total abandonment, the few remaining residents go beyond physical and age limits to hold onto their land. They suffer from a lack of basic structure such as markets, hospitals and schools. Agricultural production, the biggest source of income of the population, also suffer from a lack of manpower and climate change.
Even with all those problems, some residents still try to preserve and continue with the lifestyle of the past. They are, probably, the last generation to take care of the lands of the interior, where the future is not as optimistic as in the capital and the feeling of the end is getting closer.
